Gradient Nail

This week I decided to try out a gradient for the first time and the inspiration came to me when I saw L'oreal's nail polish in The Muse's Attitude. I don't normally gravitate towards greens, but this nail polish reminded me of the scales of a snake, & with me being year of the snake, I had to have it. Here are the other nail polishes I used.

If the pictures weren't a good enough run through of how I achieved my nails this week, here's a step-by-step explanation:

  1. After shaping each of my nails to a more square shape (yes they're my real nails), I applied Sally Hansen - Miracle Cure over the tips of the nails. After that dried, I added a 2nd coat over the entire nail.
  2. Then carefully applied (2) coats of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 370 Black Out. This polish takes a bit of time to dry, so any black polish you favor will do.
  3. With a disposable make-up sponge wedge, I applied the L'oreal nail color in 791 The Muse's Attitude,  to the tip of the sponge and lightly sponged the nail polish from the tip of nails to 2/3's up. I kept doing that, working my way down the nail, until I had the vibrancy or gradient that I wanted. I used approximately one stroke of nail polish on the sponge, per nail, per layer.
  4. After all the coats have dried, I covered each nail with my holy grail top coat: Sally Hansen - No Chip.

I hope you all found that useful! JN
