For many, November marks the start of holiday shopping and family gatherings. For me, November is all of that and so much more. It marks the return of the red Starbucks cup and their seasonal holiday drinks that warm the soul, such as my favorite caramel brûlée latte (soy, no whip, extra sprinkles). It's really about the big picture and the little things that makes us happy.
November also marked another birthday for my father. I got him the Three Stooges birthday card (above) 2 years ago but kept forgetting to give it to him until this year. He loves it!
Lastly, one cannot mention November without mentioning Thanksgiving. You can see what I wore to my Thanksgiving parties in the picture above (bottom right). It's a tradition that during dinner, we go around the table and each say what we are thankful for this year. This year, I am thankful for where my relationship with my parents is at, my loving boyfriend, and best friends. Ultimately, I'm thankful for the people in my life. I believe being thankful for the people you have in our life is everything, as a matter of fact. Materials may occupy us for some time, but what is a life without love and relationships. What is a group 200 something semi-close friends, to 3 wonderful friends that are true, kind, and are the people you would trust your life to? That is what's important to me.
I guess you could even say that my life's mission for the past twenty something years have been to weed out the negative people in my life, and find that needle in a haystack kind of friendship or relationship. So far I've only found 3, but I couldn't be happier. JN
